The Course
An intensive 1 day masterclass on the intricacies of preparing and producing a professional and successful selftape. It's no secret that selftapes are becoming as valuable an opportunity as face to face auditions in today's globalised industry. This masterclass will be a practical exploration of the key elements of self-taping, highlighting the do's and dont's under the expert instruction of casting directors Camilla-Valentine Isola and Luci Lenox.
Actors will be sent sides to prepare beforehand and will receive their taped material on completion of the masterclass. Course content: - Creating the space: how to prepare your home for a self tape - tech specs, lighting and colour-palette. - Preparing yourself for a selftape - getting off book quickly, character work, wardrobe. - Self tape do's and dont's - camera technique, working with a scene partner of camera, multiple takes - Presenting material in a professional manner. NOTE: PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS MASTERCLASS WILL BE TAUGHT ENTIRELY IN ENGLISH. MAX 20 STUDENTS. Camilla-Valentine Isola
She started working as an assistant actor's agent back in the 80's before she moved to Spain. She became the assistant to the casting director Debbie McWilliams, who was at that time casting a project in Madrid. She then worked under Mary Selway, also in Madrid, before starting on her own. She has worked on numerous projects with many different producers and directors, both big budget American films and tiny budget Spanish films. She has had a very long association with KanZaman, Babieka Films and Tornasol Films, and has continued to work with many other producers and directors at the same time. She has collaborated with many casting directors all over the world. Amongst the many directors she has worked with and her many credits are: Nick Hamm (Talk of Angels), Paul McWigan (The Reckoning), Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast), Gracia Querejeta (15 Años y 1 Dia; Felices 140), Juan Jose Campanella (13 part TV series: Vientos de Agua; El Secreto de Sus Ojos (Spain)), Alex de la Iglesia (Oxford Murders; La Balada Triste de Trompeta), Milos Forman (Goya's Ghosts), Donald Petrie (My Life In Ruins), 3 Seasons of the television series Borgia for Tom Fontana (Spain), Andy Tenant (Wild Oats), Fernando Leon (A Perfect Day), Kevin Reynolds (Risen), Terry George (The Promise), Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Leavey)..and also has assisted with casting on several Bond films. She is a founder member of the International Casting Director's Network (ICDN) which meets annually at the Berlin Film Festival during the Shooting Stars event. Luci Lenox is a casting director who has worked in the film industry for the last fifteen years between Barcelona, Spain and the UK. Her specialities are International productions shooting in Spain and European co-productions but she also enjoys working with first time filmmakers. She has worked on many highly successful projects which include the feature films 'Perfume' directed by Tom Tykwer, Woody Allen's 'Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona' and Mabrouk el Mechri's 'Cold Light of Day' and Larry Charles' "The Dictator" among others. She has worked for some of the world's leading production companies including Constantine, Filmax, MediaPro, Disney, Summit, Intrepid, and Kanzaman. She started ICE Casting with Pep Armengol in 2005. As a team Luci and Pep are passionate perfectionists who pride themselves on attention to detail.
