The Course
This course is designed to improve your spontaneity, increase your confidence, and allow you to focus yourself on truly being in the present moment, whether at a casting or on set. With over a decade of teaching and performing improvisation in London, Luke Manning leads an 8-week course that will help you feel empowered in making bold acting choices, pushing yourself and exciting others.
The workshop will consist of lots of fun games and exercises, with small feedback sessions in between and explanations of a few basic improv concepts, such as accepting/blocking offers, not censoring ourselves, being present in the moment as well as ones that focus on narrative elements, character work and status interactions - all very useful for an actor when it comes to performing and understanding how to portray a character. It won’t be too rigidly constructed, instead the teacher will be drawing on his wealth of improv knowledge to allow for flexibility, giving actors more time on and variety of the kinds of exercises they are learning from and enjoying most. The time spent on each exercise will vary according to the needs of each group of actors. Who is it for? Aimed at actors, it will be suitable for total beginners and participants with some experience in improv, as going over these basic exercises is much like a musician practising their scales. Some actors can be terrified of the idea of improv and the vulnerability that it entails (“where’s my script to hide behind!”), but this workshop of simple exercises will be a fun and stress free environment that allows actors to perform and play without being judged Maximum group size: 14 NOTE: PLEASE NOTE THAT NO PREVIOUS IMPROV EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. THIS COURSE IS TAUGHT ENTIRELY IN ENGLISH. YOU WILL NEED TO WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES FOR THIS COURSE. |
