
His most recent credits include the role of Albert Pierrepoint in the BBC series RILLINGTON PLACE, BBC series ELIZABETH IS MISSING, and SILENT WITNESS: RIVER’S EDGE, in which he played the role of Miles Blair (BBC).
Other screen credits include Mike Leigh’s PETERLOO, SHETLAND (ITV), the Sky TV movie RUBENESQUE, SHAMELESS (Channel 4) and PEAKY BLINDERS, THE SYNDICATE, THE VILLAGE, LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX, EXILE, SOUTH RIDING, ACCUSED, BEING HUMAN and WALLENDER, all for the BBC.
John Paul also appeared in the lead role of Martin in the BAFTA-nominated short film LAID OFF. In 2007 he won the Best Actor award at the European Independent Film Awards in Paris for his performance.
John Paul’s recent theatre credits include CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, a co-production of the Glasgow Citizen’s Theatre, Edinburgh’s Lyceum and and the Liverpool Playhouse, directed by Dominic Hill, TWELFTH NIGHT directed by Rachel O’Riordan with Horsecross, Perth, Imaginate’s THE DARK directed by Lu Kemp and TRANSLATIONS directed by Andy Arnold with Citizen’s Theatre, Glasgow.
John Paul is also a well-established voice artist and has worked on numerous radio dramas with BBC Radio 4.
As a writer, he was short-listed for Britain’s most prestigious theatre writing competition, The Bruntwood Prize. He has written several scripts in various development stages and worked as a scriptwriter on a BBC soap opera.He has recently completed his first novel and is currently in discussions with publishers.
As well as acting and writing, John Paul has worked alongside Orla O’Connor in Casting for Film, TV & Theatre for almost 2 decades.
